About the Role
We’re looking for a commercially focused Estates Surveyor to support the growth and effective management of our national property portfolio.
Reporting to the Head of Estates & Facilities, you’ll manage a portfolio of optician stores, leading lease events and negotiations to secure strong commercial outcomes. You’ll play a key role in aligning property decisions with our wider business strategy — ensuring our estate supports performance, growth, and long-term success.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Manage day-to-day property matters across a defined portfolio of optical stores, ensuring effective and commercially sound estate management.
- Monitor and proactively manage all lease events, including rent reviews, renewals, break options, expiries, and regears.
- Lead and conclude negotiations on lease renewals and rent reviews to secure favourable commercial terms and mitigate risk.
- Develop and maintain strong working relationships with landlords, managing agents, and professional advisors to support positive long-term partnerships.
- Support acquisitions, relocations, and disposals by providing property due diligence, negotiation support, and strategic advice.
- Identify and deliver opportunities to improve commercial performance across the estate, including cost savings and value enhancement initiatives.
- Provide strategic property input to ensure estate decisions align with the Group’s wider growth strategy
KILLS, KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE
You’ll thrive in this role if you’re commercially astute, proactive, and confident, leading negotiations in a fast-paced, multi-site environment.
You’ll bring:
- Proven experience managing a retail or multi-site commercial property portfolio.
• Strong knowledge of commercial lease structures, including rent reviews, renewals, break clauses, and statutory processes.
• Demonstrable experience negotiating directly with landlords and agents to secure commercially advantageous outcomes.
• A sharp commercial mindset, with the ability to identify risks and opportunities that impact business performance.
• Excellent organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects, competing priorities, and critical deadlines effectively.
